can someone put in the picking for sweeps like this?
i am confused with the note on the Gstring.. is this picked with a upstroke and then followed by a downstroke on the B string?
or do u do a downstroke on the Gstring and continue with downstokes?

please help
thanks

this is how i would pick the sequence:
downpick the 17 then upstroke the 13, 15, and upstroke the note on the g string.
then downpick the 15, 13 and upstroke the 17

but if u upstroke the g, wouldnt u do an inside picking thing and not have to skip over the string?

im sorry i just want to learn sweeping perfectly lol

My personal preference when sweeping is to always hammer/pull-off on the high E string because it makes for really good economy/efficiency of motion. But you can do as you please.

Here's what I would do: 17 (Down) --> 13 (Pulloff) --> 15 (Up) --> 14 (Up) --> 15 (Down) --> 13 (Down) --> 17 (Hammer)

I cant find a smooth way to pick it as you have it written, but I can tell you that a common way to do a lick like that would be:

---17--(p)13----------------13-------
-----------------15------15-------------
----------------------14-----------------
------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
------------------------------------------

up - pull off - up - down - down - down

or like in the Bleeding Mascara Intro:

------------13---17--(p)13------------
-------15----------------------15------
--14-----------------------------------
------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
------------------------------------------

down - down -down - up - pull off - up

yea i do a pull off/hammer on between the 13 and the 17 on the E,
but its that 14 on the G that gets me.
i have been learning it as a downstoke, but it feels more economical to do an upstroke.
is there actually a 'perfect' technique when it comes to sweeping?

Well, with sweeping, you are essentially "economy picking" so I always just use the stroke that is the most efficient. I will always inside pick with sweeping unless I'm not able to. But that's just me.

To be honest, you'd probably be fine doing it either way.

Would probably be the best way to do it. You could also make it sound more interesting with a trill. The exact same arpeggio in Dethklok's Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle is done like this:

-13h17-p13----------------13h17-----
-----------------15------15-------------
----------------------14-----------------
------------------------------------------

I would definately do ths way

   ^ V V ^ ^ ^ V
[--17-13-------------13-17-----]
[----------15-----15-------------]
[--------------14-----------------]
[----------------------------------]
[----------------------------------]
[----------------------------------]

Where ^ is the downstroke and V is upstroke...

and if you have to reapeat it for several times than upstroke the last 13 and downstroke the last 17 (the last) note
