So I came home for spring break and found my old Marquee Moon album in my closet (I also found my Pink Flag album by Wire [ somebody should make a thread on Wire] ) and I completely forgot how incredible Television are. They had their **** together.

Who else shares my love?

I also love Television.

Pretty sure there was a wire thread not too long ago. They also are awesome.

yeah there was a Wire thread

I haven't checked into Wire

but Television is amazing

i will admit when i first heard them i thought they totally sucked... because everywhere it sais they are a "punk" band.

And they are not punk at all really. They are just amazing.
I love all forms of Rock 'n' Roll, past and NOT present

Tom Verlaine really is just about the best guitarist ever.

Shit. My dad loves their self titled.

The guitar playing on that record works waaaaay better than Viagra.

Also, when I saw this thread the first thing I thought was "rules the nation"

That's how unpunx I am.

I have Marquee Moon and Glory. Neither one has a bad song on it.

A few years ago I picked up Tom Verlaine's solo instrumental album "Warm and Cool" which also features some former members of Television, too.
My style is impetuous.

The real question is who doesn't love Television? I mean everybody in their right mind loves Television.

Television is one of my favorite bands. Tom Verlaine is my favorite guitarist. Wire's pretty good too.
#12
^^Pretty much everybody I've introduced Television to have digged them, so you're probably right.

But man, I can't tell you how much I like Television. It's that kind of band whose music just feels right, and they're one of the few bands that I could listen to all day without stopping at all. It's really hard to explain. They just rule. More can't be said.

I! I SEE! I SEE NO! EVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL!
Doodododoodeedoodoo etc.

Television are ****ing good, even though I´m not so convinced they´re punk (I know they were in the scene, but their music isn´t punk), but I have no problem to discuss them here.

I like them, but whenever i listen to Marquee Moon, what´s really often, it reminds me of Franz Kafka´s The Metamorphosis which I had to read while listen to the album, and the book is one of the worst I ever read
#15
Yeah classic band. A while back there was an awesome video of Television in a loft rehearsing with Hell on bass from 1974. It was such a garagey sounding song,it was amazing whatever it was. It's removed now though
#16
I found some awesome demos they recorded with Brian Eno while Richard Hell (<3) was still in the band.
They're pretty sexy.

Rancid are the best punk band ever.

Tim Armstrong is a songwriting genius, is a complete fashion diva and has an incredible singing voice.

He doesn't sound like Opie from family guy at all.

hehe I made a Wire thread up in hur not too long ago. But Television is one of my favorite bands. Fred Smith's bass playing has had a big impact on my own playing.

By NOT using MegaUpload or any of those sites to upload the demos, then NOT giving it to us.

I read that this year... terrible... and I didn't even have Television to aid me through it. For some reason I haven't bought Marquee Moon yet, but one day I shall.

is wire any good? i have yet to get into them...

You know what, I would be really upset if someone posted me a pm for this Television demo.

Not that I have actually listened to the demos, but I'm just going to assume that 'Venus' is really incredible in those recordings as well and a bit more garage-y. I'm also going to assume that Marquee Moon sounds really diffrent compared to the Marquee Moon version and that Friction is pretty damn cool as well.

Then again, that's just an estimation.
#38
Yeah, Venus sounds a lot more garage-y.

Not that I would know, since I DON'T have the demos. I'm just guessing here.
