You guys know any shredders that have good songs beside the obvious (JP with dream theater, Steve Vai). like guthrie govan or something?

by the way i'm asking in this forum cause i figure more people would listen to shred in this forum.

paul gilbert, monte montegomery, anyone from candy rat.necrophagist, but the vocals suck as a warning
#4
listen to tech death metal and you'll find plenty of shredders. necrophagist, quo vadis, martyr, etc. and stuff that isn't even shred but is incredibly difficult to play. otherwise, nuno bettencourt, racer x guys (paul gilbert & the other one), Malmsteen?
also, al di meola and paco de lucia have some sweet flamenco/jazz fusion chops.

Bruce Bouillet is "that other guy" from Racer X.

Also, look into Shawn Lane, he's absolutely amazing. Allan Holdsworth is definitely recommend too, though both of these guys (while able to play inhumanly fast) are not really shredders because they're fusion players so they play differently.

I don't know if this seems to "obvious" to you but have you tried asking in the shred forum?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Michael Romeo from Symphony x. Check out their song Sea Of Lies, it's amazing, especially the tapping part.

search up "guitars suck" on youtube. These guys are VERY good guitarists, and also relatively unknown, or at least some of them.

Don't be fooled by the name "Guitars Suck"

During practice once, my bass player was trying to act cool and headbang and I hit him in the face with sharp head of my washburn (accident maybe). Theres still a tiny bit of blood in my guitar, I think its kinda cool

Anything by Yngwie.
Even his random shredding from his lessons.

Hmm... never heard of the guy, I guess I'll look into him.

Syu. He comes up with some pretty interesting Eastern-tinged stuff in a metal context (not surprising, being from Japan and all).

Edit - He plays in the band Galneryus, by the way. If you like Power metal, check 'em oot.

Shawn Lane
Greg Howe
Guthrie Govan

There loads.

I know there are loads, however people are listing the same obvious ones again. I've heard 2 of the 3 guys that you mentioned.

Along with this, does anybody know where I can download/buy stuff like Shawn Lane and Guthrie Govan, cause in india, record stores don't have stuff like this.

Michael Angelo Batio!! perfect technique, and still puts emotion in his songs!!
