Hello Everybody,
I'm new here and i whould like to ask sth.
I want to buy a Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom, but it has P 90 Pickups installed...

Is it possible to replace the P 90's with EMG's (81/60)

Thanks in Advance...

i don't know, but you could always get mounting rings.emg's are low enough profile to where it should work.burstbuckers are cool too,and dirty fingers also

With all due respect...why the hell would you put EMGs in a guitar like that? It'll sound totally sterile and lifeless, which is the exact reason they're fitted with P90s in the first place...

Either way, there's a slight size difference which would require some routing - so it's a bit more in-depth than a typical pickup swap.

Not without gouging huge chunks out of the guitar - just buy a Les Paul with normal humbuckers if you want EMGs.

Well, the thing is that the "normal" model costs 2300 EUR and the P 90 1600...

You'd still have to route the guitar - basically you'd be spending money to lower the resale value of your guitar even further, it just doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

If you want a Les Paul then just get a Standard - the price difference is probably less than the cost of buying and fitting replacement pickups.

it's totally do-able though. routing and everything if you have the tools. go for it if it's what you must, but don't expect others to agree with your decisions necessarily.

do mini humbuckers like the firebird's have the same route as P90s?
