I have an IDE motherboard and my mate just gave me a 320 gig SATA hard drive for my birthday. Obviously I couldn't connect it up, so I looked around and found out I needed an IDE to SATA converter. Simple. Went out and bought one... Hooked it up and it doesn't work. Tried it on my mate's computer, doesn't work. We tried a different chord on my mate's computer and it worked, so the hard drive is fine.

I decided to take the converter back and get it replaced... it was the only thing I could think of that could be wrong. So I did that... just got home and hooked up the new one and again, it doesn't work.

Can anyone help me?

So will this be the 2nd hard disk in your comp? if so, you must set master and slave on the hard disks.

I wasn't aware that non-SATA motherboards could support SATA HD's, even with a converter?
Upgrade your motherboard, it's probably about time for an upgrade anyway.
