My dad told me about 'minus tracks'. He said that you can find, for example, just the drumline for a song, so you can play along to it and record with it. If these exist, where would I find them? I am looking specifically for metal songs like early Metallica, Children of bodom, etc.

I agreed, i could really use some too, but for other things such as Buckethead and Dream Theater
