What is the right gauge of strings to use for c-standard tuning. I have a 2005 highway strat and i sit in my room with two packs of ernie ball slinkys one is 10 gauge and one is 11 gauge. It says on the back that Queens of The Stone Age use them and that is the band's songs i wish to play. my 9 gauge strings are too thin so which gauge should i get for use on a fender strat.
Really whatever's comfortable for you. I'd go 11's though...10's in C standard just seem a bit too loose for me.
I would suggest 12's, but 11's would probably be fine if you don't want to go that heavy.
I've been playing 9 gauge for my whole career of 5 years as a player will the jump to 11 gauge be too much and will the strings work well in standard tuning on a strat without putting too much stress and tension on the neck.
