Also, you'll find most metal songs have 3 or more guitar tracks somewhere along the line.

obviously 3 tracks, but 3 guitars? that's a bit rare

Almost all metal songs on CD's are going to have more than 3 guitars; from what i've read/heard they'll usually have like 2-3 guitars on the rhythm's for layering and what not then there's the lead and occassionally aucoustic passages and more subtle guitar parts... But when playing live I can't think of any bands (though for some pop musicians their backing band usually have a couple of guitarists going along with other instruments) other than Iron Maiden.

You comment on Bad Religion and not Maylene or Linkin Park? For shame, my good sir.

TS: A lot of shredders will have several backup guitars on stage with them. Check out the G3 Live in Denver DVD, Yngwie has two backup guitarists (I think).

Why would Linkin Park need three guitars?

what I meant was 3 guys playing guitar at the same time and not
3 tacks split up in 1 song even if there are 3 guitars aucoustic and then later
in the song 2 distortion dosent count unless they are at the same time!
tons of bands do that
