I've noticed that whenever I turn my amp up I get a horribly loud, instant feedback. Its quite annoying since I like to crank my amp. I was wondering if there is a way to stop this from happening?

Yeah but are all amps supposed to feedback? I mean how are ppl supposed to get good tube saturation if they cant turn up because of feedback?

if its too loud for you, then why would you want it?

tube amps will give you horrible feedback, especially if you have a hollow or semi-hollow bodied guitar, its just learning how to control that feedback

I wanted it because I needed something better than my Crate GFX65. Its 15 watts tube, and I gig every once in a while, so a 5w wouldn't really cut it. I also stand in another room when I play at home, and I'm using a solidbody.

Oh ok sorry lol. No, I don't want the feedback. I'll try a noise gate. But now I'm curious. They didn't always have noise suppressors, so how did they used to crank tube amps without getting feedback?

You're all on the wrong lines...mention the word 'feedback' and there's always people talking about noise suppressors, god knows why. A noise gate won't make a blind bit off difference I assure you.

Your pickups need potting. You can do it yourself with basic guitar repair knowledge, though if it's not a particularly expensive guitar, just get new pickups.

If you stand further away from the amp, you will get less feedback.
ESP LTD EC-256 and a Fender Deluxe VM

I'll look into the potting, thought its just a MIM standard tele so I might just get some new pups.
And I'm already standing as far away as my 15 ft cable will allow.
