So, there's been some serious storms here in North Georgia today. Like, hail - an exceedingly rare occurence here in Georgia.

The place they were showing on the news looked like a fucking warzone. If you've ever been to Centennial Park in Atlanta, you may remember those huge torches/columns. The storm knocked one on it's side. The hail tore apart buildings, including a hole in the roof of the Georiga Dome - they had a shot of water pouring down a staricase inside it.

Anyone else seen this shit? I know there a few UGers in Atlanta.

You never hear about tornados occuring in a downtown area, huh?

I saw a little, and heard about some of it when my sister called for weather updates (they don't have cable, and was wanting me to get online to give her a better radar description).

I didn't know about the torch, though.

This HAS been a bad couple of weeks, storm wise. =/

EDIT: But it never really got BAD here.

We had some lightning, but I never heard it pouring rain or anything.

I know there was one scary/badass bolt of lightning of in the distance (about 10 miles or so off)

I was sitting in the living room floor, and I saw the flash out the window, a PERFECT shot of the entire bolt, and it stayed attached to the ground for a good two or three seconds.

It scared the hell out of me, but it was one of the most amazing lightning strikes I had ever seen.

Stuff like this happens year-round in good ol' Cleveland, OH.
I know - but this is fucking Georgia. We're not supposed to get any sort of extreme weather save the occasional tornado, or leftover hurricanes.

Some people have apparently been hurt. I'm not currently watching, but they were carrying someone out of I think the Congress Center on a stretcher.

Seems like it.

Y'all got it again this year. I'm in the northern part of Indiana; what was supposed to hit us passed and went all on you

Then again, none of the forcasts are ever right.

Good ol' Cleveland, man. I'm still shoveling my driveway from the ****ing blizzard last weekend

Yeah, that was.... a lot of snow.

I'm not really complaining seeing as how I've been living here all of my life and I'm used to it by now. Not to say I enjoy it...
mmmk.

I'd rather it be hailstorms here than snow storms. I love thunderstorms.

Actually, up until I got to highschool, I've always wanted to be a tornado chaser. I love tornados.

Does anyone know how badly Philips Arena got hit? (I'll be honest, that's the only part of Atlanta that I give a damn about)

I've seen one picture, and there were metal sheets torn off the side.

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

haha

I should have saw that coming.

And, no, I don't. Sorry.

But you can rest assured that it's, IMO, not serious enough to cancel any certain sporting events involving ice.
