LA2A or an 1176, and some SE2A's or SE3's, when are you gonna use 5 DI's at the same time, I would have invested in a couple nicer di's like anything from radial
God Bless

An Otario or Studer 24-track tape machine.

And a Mackie 24-8 Mixer.

I could probably get that for $3000 total.

Wicked_Bassist, you spent $0 on preamps. With $3000 I'd at least get one damn nice preamp if the mixer and tape machine weren't so important.

I'd be much more inclined to get a damn nice preamp and a not so great tape machine or mixer than vice versa. Your sound can only be is good as whats coming in. Who cares how good your machine is if you are putting **** into it.

The Mackie 8bus console has some good pres, so I could get away with that and my current outboard pres until I acquire more goods.

That tape machine would make anything sound damn good anyways. 2" tape! Two inches and 24 tracks! That's 0.083" per track compared to my current 0.032" that I get with my 8 track. You can get some real fat sounds with 0.083 inches.

Mackie 400f interface/preamp...$800

A good EQ...not sure which kind...have to research and shop around $200
A good Compressor...Shop around. $200

A new guitar Amp...$500

RODE NT1A condensor mic...$200 on ebay

Buy a couple MXR guitar effect pedals on ebay...$100

You don't need a mixer, you are using a computer with mixing software.

Perhaps a control surface, but not a real mixer.

^ Cut the MicroKorg, what a waste of money. You can't even model your own sounds.

Still a cool toy to own.
Actually its good live.

But yeah, for €350 its a little waste of money.
The Kontrol49 would do much better using the insane new thor synth on Reason 4.0

I can't see myself justifying 500.00 towards a CD duplicator. Also why would you pick Pro Tools M-Powered when you picked an E-Mu audio interface?

I'd buy:
1) Presonus Firepod ($300.00 used)
2) Rode NT1 ($200.00 used)
3) FMR RNP ($500.00)
4) Cakewalk Sonar ($500.00)
5) Custom Built PC ($500.00)
6) Cables and Accessories ($200.00)
7) KRK RP8 ($500.00 for Pair)
8) Computer Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse ( 300.00)

Of course that would be given the restrictions you gave, personally if I add $3,000.00 to invest in recording gear right now my choices would be much different.
