save up $100 more, and get a Peavey VK 112. More power than most people will ever need (50w all tube). Good dist, decent cleans. gets really, really loud.
Current Gear:
LTD MH-400 with Gotoh GE1996T (EMG 85/60)
PRS SE Custom 24 (Suhr SSH+/SSV)
Ibanez RG3120 Prestige (Dimarzio Titans)

Audient iD22 interface
Peavey Revalver 4, UAD Friedman BE100/DS40

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

dont get a line 6. i have one and thought it was pretty good until i played a tube amp and it blew it away.

I would suggest a Vox Valvetronix AAD30VT (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Vox-Valvetronix-AD30VT-30W-Guitar-Combo?sku=481959)

It fits your price range and is an incredible amp.

how loud does it get? will it be loud enough to be heard over a drum kit?

im not a fan of the vox wanna be tubes.

go for a Randall RG50TC. its out of your price range, so save up more, but its a vastly better amp, and its all tube.

do not get a line6.

the VK112 is also a good choice, but IMO the Randall RG50TC is 10x the amp.

go for the VK112 if you cant save up enough for the randall

your budget is on the edge of a crappy low-end damp and a good low-end amp.

Great worthy amps are about 500 and up... not ALL but most of them.

Dont get desperate cause in you will regret your decision in 5 months. It happened to me alot with bunch of crap i have in my room.... under my bed.

No. Get the VK. It's much, much better, being tube.
