I'm the guitarist in a band called Gravia in Oneonta, New York.

We just wrote and recorded this song this weekend, and we are really proud of the result. It's a rough cut that we recorded in my dorm room over the course of only a few hours, so it's definitely not a final cut!

Please take a look and feel free to comment (good or constructive).

Thanks very much.

I like the band name

means heavy in latin right? or metal.... something like that!
#3
i liked it until the *singing*
sorry man, just not my style but it sounded very proffesional and cool riffs.
Got to the main singing part, i like it now, just not the "growling at the start" this is actually quite cool, me likey. Ur singer was flat on one note halfway through the first verse, but otherwise cool

It also happens to be the name of a new invention...an LED lamp that needs no electrical power, is powered by gravity, and lasts 200 years!

I hear ya man.

My personally influences are bands like Hard Rock bands like Chevelle and Sick Puppies, but also a little heavier stuff like Killswitch Engage, but not too much.

That being said, this band is still very new, only formed this year, so we are still trying to find 'our sound'.

Thanks for the kind words!

Well well!

I'll be sure to continue posting clips as we record the album. We'll have it out by the end of this semester.

Thanks for the kind words all!

Also, constructive criticism is always welcome! We want to make the music as enjoyable as we can!

I liked the beginning and the riffs. This is definately something I would listen to in my everyday. But the singing kind of killed it at SOME parts... In some parts the singing was genius. You probably need better gear to make it sound better (?).

Is there any way to *cough*download*cough* it? :>

I had it up for download, then uploaded a new mix, I'll make this new one downloadable also. Please listen, download, play and share all you want!

I'd love some other suggestions from people!

zKod, what are the vocal parts in particular that you don't care for? Specific notes or lyrics?

Thanks
#23
zKod has a point i love it but there a few notes that sound just slightly flat, it's when his singing sounds very SOAD, it works but it's just a little flat. I hate SOAD but this singing works really well. I played ur song to a friend whos in a really good metal band and he loved it.

you didn't answer me at all, you just attacked the song again with no justification other than "it sounds like 1000 other songs" elaborate, which songs, which bands.
And again, show us something you've done which is better and more original before you criticize.

Lastly, this genre is obviously not your cup of tea, im also guessing you're the type who bashes emos because "its cool", get an open mind, or GTFO

^^^ not the point at all now your just being evasive. I'm guessing your just jelous even though you didn't like the song, you gave no reason what was wrong with it, just bashed it for being "unoriginal" converseley, i found it extremely refreshing and original, but meh opinions opinion

Jeeze, getting a bit heated in here!

Everyone is entitled to their opinions! Like I said, I'll take the good with the bad. I make music to please myself, and no one else... if other people like it also, fantastic!

I wonder why positivity is so absent these days!

wow, i actually loved it... sounds really good

guitar gets a little bit repetitive on a few parts but its nothing to worry about. The whole song really falls together in all the right ways

good vocalist as well, a little strainy feeling on the higher notes but overall good sound.

That is actually a very good song.. any chance you got inspiration for it from the band Shinedown? They seem to do the little riff at the beginning then the growl/scream.
