It isn't that good for me.

Last night, like the night before,
Like every other night,
I forced down two pills
To stop from sleeping.

This morning,
I watched the yellow-orange glint creep out
From between criss-crossed tree branches;
As I sipped a bland glass of left-over tea.

I sat in my room,
To record something, anything,
But I left
An hour later
in the same state.

I'm sitting at my desk.

My mind is feverish and
sweat trickles down my face.
And I feel my eyelids tremble under the crushing pressure of sleep unfulfilled and the longing to give in and forget consumes me
But if I sleep
I'll never wake again.
