What do they actually do? How is it plugged, just like a normal pedal? Does it effect other pedals?

essentially they sweep the EQ from bass to treble. it's plugged in just like a normal pedal, meaning:
guitar -> wah -> amp

define "effect other pedals."

If you cut off all the high end on an EQ, you get an "ooooh" sound. If you cut off all the low end, you get an "ahhhhh" sound. The pedal just moves the filter from one end to the other.

it sure does.

some people like them behind or in front with some plainly stupid combinations ive seen.
each to their own - but some v.bad sounds!
