My uncle gave me his 1997 special II a couple years back, this guitar is in terrible shape. He told me, "Jack, this guitar is in terrible shape, bring it to life nigga"

So, after 2 years i finally am!
here's some before tomorrow i'm disassembling and starting to sand off the laquer and paint.

Next will go white with a stripe of black down the middle.

Then i will get tonepros hardware and Dimarzio Pickups

The neck will be sanded to bare wood and repainted black
the fretboard will be sanded down along with the nut

Schaller tuner will replace stocks
before pictures

if i may say so, i would leave the paint as is. im a huge fan of worn in guitars with road scars, provided theyre authentic and not 'relicd'. but hey do what you want, my opinion isnt important, its your guitar. i do like your ideas for hardware, also what dimarzios are you thinking of getting?

compared to my bc rich tuners i love those kind it has now. i would probably be amazed by some replacement ones. now that i think about it i might think about getting some new ones.

Why are you sanding down the fretboard? There's no reason to. Scrub it out with lemon oil and a toothbrush, then wipe it down. Polish the frets with a silver polishing cloth, then your fretboard is done. Also, I'd get some Grover tuners if I were you. I've never been a fan of Schaller. Poor quality control and customer service.
Sincerely, Chad.
