What are the differences between maple and rosewood neck tops, besides color?

generally, maple is a bit brighter in tone (very slight), whereas rosewood is a bit darker sounding (on strats anyways).

Its all about feel man, other than maple necks showing wear and dirt a bit more, they are very, very similar.

there isnt a difference I have A squier and the neck is fine.I am 90%sure it is made out of maple. I have no idea what the difference is

Maple has a brighter tone to it, and is, in my opinion, much better sounding and looking

rosewood has a dark rich tone that is much perfered in metal but that's my opinion.

most fender necks are made out of maple, its whether they have a maple top, or rosewood top.
