I've played a softsynth version of the original. It's a pretty awesome synth to learn on, sounds fantastic, and has a certain prestige associated with it. It's pretty expensive though. Are you experienced with synths? If not I'd recommend something cheaper.

if you've the means, go for it. i've got a microkorg myself, and i strongly recommend it to everyone else.

I have a microkorg and it's lovely. No use spending that much money on a Moog when you aren't experienced. Plus, microkorgs are inexpensive and excellent.
