I really enjoy reading magazines, so I thought why not subscribe to a magazine that discusses one of my big interests - music, metal specifically.

So I was wondering if there are any heavy metal magazines out there or something. I'm into Death Metal. Things like Children of Bodom, In Flames, Soilwork...

Hmm judging from your pic you'd fit in more with a fat busted tribute.

revolver is pretty good.
or you could try decibel.
and im subscirbed to outburn too which isnt exclusively metal but it usually features more metal bands than anything else.

Got to go metal hammer:

free CD every time
Sometimes second CD or DVD
Random Patches and other freebies
In-depth articles/reviews
Seperate section devoted to underground black/death bands

Those bands AREN'T death metal.
You should buy kerrang or something.

I don't get magazines anymore, but I used to get Metal Hammer - purely for the free CD, which I usually wouldn't enjoy.

And you're obviously here because you fancy Phill.
Phill is a very attractive guy...

"I'm so tempted to sig that, Phill" - Sig it then

Unless otherwise stated, assume everything I say is in my opinion.

Metal Maniacs, Zero Tolerance, Terrorizer, Decibel is ok too.

I wouldnt even wipe my arse with Metal Hammer, as there is more crap in it than left dangling in my ass hairs, thus prolonging the cleaning process. ...You get the idea.

I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

Metal hammer isn't very good, and their free cd usually doesn't contain anything interesting.
But as mentioned before terrorizer is a really good magazine, their free cds have helped me find new good bands.
#19
Metal Hammer is ok for certain things, but they review everything too high or too low. Check out Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles, or Revolver if you want a wide variety of bands.

which of these can i get in the U.S?

That is the only music magazine I read, because it is the only good one I have found.

Bar none the best thing on any magazine rack I have ever saw.

NOTE: While it is prodominately metal, it isn'ty exclusively metal. It specializes in everything heavy, so that means hardcore, D-beat, etc. along with metal.

metal maniacs is easily the trooest of the metal magazines, pure ****ing metal. mainly death metal/black metal and variants though they do cover other sub-genres, i just love it because they cover the underground bands that don't receive any attention and their main hooks are bands that I love. i'm sick of seeing alexi laiho and dave mustaine on every ****ing metal magazine
decibel, terrorizer, and zero tolerance are pretty good too
metal hammer seems to have a lot more metalcore/melo death/thrash metal/nu metal stuff in it

I only read Metal Maniacs and Terrorizer. Decibel is alright, but I suggest the other two over it. Metal Hammer is trash, as is Revolver a lot of the time.
#28
If you live in the US there isn't an excuse for not checking out Metal Maniacs.

There's also Execution, which is going to be a metal magazine for musicians. It's not out, but they're doing 10,000 free subscriptions for US residents to get publicity: http://www.executionmagazine.com/

I have a subscription to terrorizer, it's good, but you seem more into melodic death, and it's more brutal death and black metal.

Yeah you're right. I'm mainly into stuff like Children of Bodom, In Flames, Soilwork, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Stratovarius, etc. So which one of these metal magazines will focus on (melodic) death/power metal?

I'm not sure I'm cut out for all this totally brutal grind stuff.

Btw, thanks for all the replies so far guys.
