Couldn't help but notice that these guys don't have their own thread (or not in the 10 pages I searched), which... sucks.

For those who don't know, they are essentially a prog-metal ensemble, known mostly for the amazing vocal range of the vocalists they've had at various times and the skills of their lead guitarist and songwriter Tim Roth, along with their ability to incorporate many different kinds of metal in their music.

Official site:

Myspace:

Video to Timeless Winter (best song to start with IMO):

They're an acquired taste, but anyone who listens to various forms of metal, from death to power, should check these fellows out.

Roth also has some guitar lessons done for UG, it's worth checking them out too.

Might well have been trained that way. Puts him in the same league as Devin Townsend

Well, except he lacks breasts.

Though Tim Roth's are developing nicely.

I think he was classically trained.

Would have liked to see them supporting Dream Theater. That tour must have taken epic to new levels.

And would have been another case of the support band being more interesting than DT.

Well, I only have the latest, Scattering of Ashes, and it's amazing. I hear that Buried in Oblivion is awesome too, but I'm not finding it anywhere (for obvious reasons). Roth himself says he'd rather not play a lot of their first album live, so I guess that's the one to miss.

LaBrie makes it impossible for me to like DT that much, even though I love JP.

Saw 'em and met em.. Roth has a bit of a god complex.

Well, he does basically write all of the music, so I can see how.

My only problem with the band is that Stu's melodic singing comes off very emo and wimpy.

Great band to pop in and play every once in a while. I listen to The Scattering of Ashes once or twice every week or so.

Powerful vocalist and some great catchy tunes.

I thought they had a thread already...
Either way, they're awesome.
If you see me in the pit, know that I'm only there because the metal forum is moving slowly.

Into Eternity is good, but sometimes their vocalist reminds me of Bullet for my Valentine... Also sometimes they seem kind of cheesy, but apart from that, the music is very good.

this band is ok but i really really hate the incredible cheesy high vocals
#30
Ya they really are a great band, I just saw them yesterday night in Prince Albert, SK. I really have never seen a band this talented come from the province I live in and they're also from Regina. I even got my Into Eternity shirt signed and met the band. I got to say, that Stu Block is quite a guy (and has an amazing vocal range live). Tim Roth(lead guitarist) is who got me and my friend to want to become guitarists, these guys are really underrated and I think more people should find out about them.
#31
^They're not under-rated. They've achieved quite a lot of success compared to most metal bands.

Just because a good band doesn't get the same fame Metallica does, doesn't mean they're under-rated.

that was full of awesome
