I'm getting a free Ibanez GRX40 and i was wondering whether it would be possible to mount a FR on it.

With routing, probably yes.

On the other hand, unless you absolutely love it, paying about 150$ for a Floyd and routing the body to make it fit might be a bit over the top.

Hmmmm. I do love FRs especially for the tuning holding properties. I hardly ever change my tunings....

You'd be much better off with a good non locking bridge, a nice graphite or roller nut, roller string trees and locking tuners.

They're easier to install, will give you roughly the same stability and they can be bought separately (in case you haven't got the complete sum yet).
