Nothing?
If anything, MAYBE an envelope filter for funk bass.

Bass wah. Bootsy Collins fuzz wah or the Crybaby Bass. Just get yourself a wah...

I've heard that a compression pedal can be useful in almost any scenario. Too bad the compressor setting on my BP80 is so limited and ****ty. I might look into getting a "real" compression pedal soon.

Regardless of genre I see that Compression is used more than most effects ( compression tightens up the tone, evens things out, and gets rid of some feedback ). Chorus, flange, overdrive, fuzz, synth, and wah are also used a lot as well.

I personally use some fuzz when covering metallica, and I use some synth when doing rush.

A little story I picked up from our friend, Billy the Scientologist, was this:

"THE must have effect for a guitarist is distortion. Even a small amount will help to dim down that horrible trebly sound a clean guitar makes. In a similar vein, compression is to a bassist as distortion is to a guitarist. It helps clean up the sound."

I was lookin' at gettin the Digitech Bass Squeeze- Dual Band Bass Compressor and maybe the Digitech Bass Synth Wah- Bass Envelope Filter, any thoughts on these??

Is there an actual Bass Wah Pedal out there?? Not the synth kind??

Yeah, Dunlop makes a Bass Crybaby Wah that is pretty nice, that's what I use. Otherwise I would recommend a Chorus and Compression, maybe a fuzz if you like some metal. Pretty much what has been said.

Thanks for the help :~)
