So somehow I got picked to direct a short one act play at school, but I don't know the first thing about directing or acting. Anyone with experience either directing or being directed in drama have some tips for me?
For the first rehearsal today, we just did a read through a few times, and I told them about what I thought their characters should be like. It was really boring and if it keeps going this way, it will suck massively. I really want this to be more fun, and for the play to not end up a pile of steaming shat.

Rent "Meet the feebles" and learn a bit about first class directing.

mmm.....start off by doing some stretching and relaxing exercises then play a few games in which they have to act like they are their character.

For example if i would be a hunter in your play then i would have to act like one in your games.
Looking for a new sig!

picture how you want the play to go in your mind and then just go part by part working out all the detail how you want it to be. and let the the cast have some input too

fortunately I was able to figure that much out myself today, but thanks. I definitely am having the actors give input a lot cuz some have been acting for years and are really good.
