What do you guys take from it? To me it's something clearly inexplainable.

When I listen to it, I escape from this body, mentally and emotionally and just say "forget everything else"

I've started to see alot of colors with the music i've been listening to lately, alot of blues, blacks and purples overlapping alot of white- really ghastly and echo-e

I've been on a creative spree, it's just amazing

You might have synesthesia.

Music to me is a form of meditation. To many people I know, it's just something they listen to in passing. They have their iPods on anywhere.

I only listen to music at home. I don't shuffle my songs. I choose what I want, depending on the mood. I try to really listen. It becomes a sort of spiritual experience.

I can't stand all this 'music is my life' crap. I know a lot of people who want to move onwards in music, loads, and only one of those probably could (and, with ease I'd say, she's an amazing dedicated musician, but she isn't placing all her options there, which is even better).

Music varies. I listen to some because I consider it cool, listen to some because I find it so intriguing and interesting, like some because it helps gives me a release and some because it helps me concentrate whilst working.

Playing instruments to me is nothing more than an awesome past time, nothing else. I think it's time a lot of people get to grips with that.

Yes, he has been smoking pot. He told me so. His temporary ban left him to increased drug usage.

Interesting point.

I have no other hobbies myself, but I'd never say taht "music is my life". I also think it's kind of a stupid thing to say. Don't know why, though.

Since I picked up the guitar its become more like a challenge, something to work towards. I take influence from anything and everything I hear, then channel that into my playing.

Feel. The. Groove.

I can't stand music that doesn't have a groove going on. If there is anyone more important than the drummer and the bassists, don't know who it is.

I define music as something that I can relate to emotionally. I listen to whatever type of music that fits my mood at the time.

As for guitar. It's just something that I picked up to learn something new. I love it now, but not so much as to say that I play it non-stop.

The truth is, too some people who are heavily involved in the scene, music is their life, even if they're not playing or making any money off it. I really think life would suck without music, and I don't mean to be cliche, but I wouldn't think the way I do without the music I've grown to love.

Because it's fun to listen to and play. I don't think music is my life, any life with only one thing in it is a pretty poor life. You need some variety in there.

Yeah! You're right! EVERYONE IS EXACTLY LIKE YOU.

Very few people who claim music is their way to go are valid to make that statement and even less make it happen.

Music is different for everyone, that I know.

EDIT: Nothing wrong with taking up music as somewhere to go with. Long as you make it realistic and don't put all your eggs in one basket, you're taking the right approach.

The only reason why I don't go to gigs anymore so much is because my education is on priority. But, seeing some of my local bands play, getting to know people who liked alternative music like you all gathered in one place is an experience which cannot be described.

Regardless of that, my life didn't evolve around music.

I can't imagine that "my life" completely implies that they're going to make a living off of it. I imagine it's about the same thing as saying, "my kids are my life" or "my religion is my life" even if the person saying it doesn't make any money off of his kids (Even though when I'm a father, I'm training them so I can start my own circus) or just going to church.

The statement was going towards people who believe their entire future is in music.

I know this only applies to a tiny minority, but still.

My "life" would be music...if most of it wasn't terrible.

If you go out to a random gig...all the bands will be mediocre...boring songs, played by boring people. That's why it's hard to have music as a life.

I dont think my A-level revision would've been as good without music in the background, it just stops me getting distracted, helps me absorb!

I like alot of random gigs, with local bands. I don't really think a live experience can be bad as long as the musicians love what they're doing.

When they do it makes it ten times better

That's another thing, I don't get the same kick out of;

A. Playing live
B. being at gigs
C. Playing your own material live

I don't understand why people go on about it as much as they do... I play live...I play my own stuff live...I go to gigs...it's alright, can be fun... what's more fun is the band's banter before and afterwards.

Meh, there's no point if the musicians aint good, for me.

Music is a background to everything.
Everytime I listen to music I associate it with a situation, or a dance.
I'm the kind of person that makes up a theme tune for someone walking down a busy street, just because it amuses me.
For me, movement <=> music

then you're totally missing the point of music. Me, I live and breath music, but it's not where I am going to pursue a career because I realize it's foolhardy to place my future in the idea of being a musician. point being, maybe people can be different than you without you feeling superior to them, now wouldn't that be cool.
