What are some woods that are easy to build a guitar with. I'm planning
on building a guitar but I need an inexpensive wood to build it from.
I also don't know the general price I should expect for wood.

you can use plywood if you really want. it may not sound quite as good as a $200 hunk of wood but its still gonna sound like a guitar.

Poplar and Alder are very similar woods, poplar is cheaper but alder usually has a better grain.

poplar is my favorite wood for strat style guitars. The fact that it is cheap is a bonuse. I just like they way poplar sounds.

What about accoustic guitars? o.o How much does wood normally run you, and what kinds should you use?

Nice tonewood for acoustic guitars is pretty expensive. Have a look at www.lmii.com to get an idea about pricing.

I've always wondered what an acoustic with a black ironwood bridge and fretboard would sound like. All these ideas and no money

Alder is my favorite.

It is:
Inexpensive
Easy to find (Every store has it)
Easy to shape (Sanding is really easy, almost like balsa!)
Easy to paint (Because the wood doesnt have a porous grain like Mahogany)

Unfortunately, it does not look appealing. Its pretty mundane and you are almost obligated to paint it.
