Anyone know "Feels So Good" by Chuck Mangione? Sure, he may be the flugelhorn player and pianist, but the entire group is really good. I recommend checking out the guitar solo in it (at least this live version of it) because it is, for lack of a better word, amazing. It's a terrific groovin' song.

Also, some people might be interested in checking out Children of Sanchez, which is much more Latin sounding (in a good way).

What do you guys think? Any other great tunes similar to these two (preferably with horn sections as I'm looking for songs to recommend playing with the school band)?

Bellavia.

btw, Feels So Good is a decent song, but horribly overplayed.

I just listened to Bellavia and it is absolutely terrific. I will now be moving on to Chase the Clouds Away. Is there an album you would recommend purchasing, or any other specific songs that I should hear?

His greatest hits album is really solid, if you want to keep it simple. But I don't really think there is anything he's done that isn't worth a listen.

Oh, and just search with his name on YouTube.
There are tons of videos of Marching Bands and Drum & Bugle Corps performing his songs!

I've been checking him out quite a bit lately. I think I'll find his greatest hits album the next time I go CD shopping and then move on from there.

Any other recommendations as to other jazz musicians that I should check out? What else do people think about Chuck Mangione?
