I hope you know that Hurt's a Nine Inch Nails song. :S

Although, that doesn't change the fact that it's one of the most immensely sad songs I've ever heard (the Johnny Cash version.)

Flames by VAST.

The string instrument section (maybe violin, maybe chello) is perhaps the saddest piece of music I've ever heard. Lyrically, it is typical love song "And When I am with you // there's no reason to pretend // and when I am with you // I feel flames again."

It used to be my cry song...

Songs that make me sad are

Blink 182 - I miss you
The Beatles - Yesterday
Bright Eyes - Amy In The White Coat [that's really chilling, lyrically]
Ron Pope - A Drop In The Ocean

i doubt these are the saddest songs ever written by any means, but it's worth checking them out.

i cbf'd adding the rest of them. there are quite a few though.
