Ok I love the Steve ray Via duel with the Karate kid dude and that scene just rocks but I have a question?

How does Steve make those squeeling notes buy the 12th fret markers with out using his whammy bar?

I've noticed that the Karate kid does something similar and he doesn't even have a whammy bar, just a slide tube on his finger.

I haven't seen the film you're talking about, but... possibly pinch harmonics? There's a thread about them on the front page just now.

Pinch Harmonics.

For example: Play the 12th fret on the G string. Then tap around above the pick-ups until you get a natural harmonic. This is a tapped harmonic. Then, pick that note again, but as you're picking, hit the same spot you tapped with your thumb before the note rings out. This produces that squealing noise, aka pinch harmonic.

I think you are confusing Stevie Ray Vaughan (epic blues guitarist, now deceased) and Steve Vai (shredding wanker ).

I'm sorry if I offended anyone...
Nope you didn't offend anyone at all.
