If you didn't watch the Chaser's last year, **** off.

But seriously, if you did, and you were offended by it, then **** off even more.

Andrew Hansen wrote a song which described the way that celebrities become saints the second they die, no matter how much of a ****head they were in real life.

You can watch it here: http://www.abc.net.au/chaser/war

Anyone remember how much we all hated Steve Irwin?

I ****ing do, I couldn't stand the assface.

Now he's remembered as an Aussie hero, and what the **** for? For harassing animals with incredibly annoying catch phrases dressed in stupid clothes? Until one stingray had enough and kicked his ass?

If you're offended by that, have yourself a teaspoon of concrete and harden the fark up. (line stolen from Uncle Chop Chop)

John Howard came out and said it was 'despicable'. But I'd put money on the fact Howard's just pissed because they had a go at Bradman. Howard probably didn't know who anyone else in the song was.

What does the Pit think about all this?

Yeah, it's true, but we all knew that already.
Cobain is wank, Hendrix is good, but not God, Bonham is great, but not the best. etc.
For example, in T.Rex's greatest hits booklet it says how if Marc Bolan hadn't had crashed his mini and died, he probably wouldn't be anywhere near as famous as he is now; they were falling out of fashion and couldn't keep up with the music scene and were becoming less famous by the day. It's ironic that the only way for him to remain famous, is to die.

yes, steve irwin was a hero to many of us.

I do agree, however, that a lot celebrities are saint...ed.... as soon as they're dead if they've killed themselves or been killed in an accident (e.g. Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Dimebag Darrell, etc...) and a lot of it isn't very deserved.

just my 0.02

EDIT: dang, 2 posts behind and i forgot all about hendrix... shame on me.

Irwin was badass. Pull your head out of your own ass.

As for the rest of it, I don't agree completely as this only happened to really good players, but I do agree that some people *cough* *cough* *Hendrix* *cough* get too much credit.

How could you HATE Steve Irwin? Dislike maybe, but hates a pretty strong word for a guy that was jus trying to educate the world about the worlds most deadliest yet BEAUTIFUL animals.

Steve Erwin was awesome

Half of the dead celebrities dont get ENOUGH credit
for example, Marc Bolan (T.Rex) , Eric Carr (Kiss), Hillel Slovak (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
the list continues

Look I dont care if anyone flames me im interested to hear what you think because my idea of Steve Irwin may be different to yours mainly because being an Australian I was constantly exposed to him and his antics eg taking his so many month old son into the crocodile enclosure ala Michael Jackson but im sure we all love him too
#21
i never really got pantera, im not a big dimebag fan , i mean his signature guitars are nice but they're only amazing song was cowboys from hell which i like a lot. but he's like metal's biggest sensation, bigger than most bands with really good living guitarists. i.e. megadeth, dragonforce, dream theater, joe satrini, etc. same thing with kurt cobain or jimi hendrix, they're all good, but not amazing. it also depends on how they die, if its a gunshot on stage its a huge deal. if its a death at 75 after they're carreer's over, it's still sad, but it doesnt further glorify them.
#22
he also only has 1 friend

They're not "metal's biggest sensation" Dean just uses Dimebag's death as a marketing ploy (which pisses me off to no end) and you hear about him a ton because Dean gives out a lot of interviews because if people know about Dime and think he sounds badass, then they'll want his guitars. Simple as that. That's the only reason you hear about them nowadays.

Steve Irwin is the man.

And I don't care, I think Hendrix was too. :/

Some, of course, do get extra credit from dying, obviously, but that's just because it 'adds to the legend.'

TS is a dumb faggot and the song was written by Chris Taylor.
Gear
Good Guitars
Good Pedals
Good Amps

That is all.
