i'd go for the washburn, just because of the pickups. i think humbuckers sound really nice

Well said.

And imo it looks a whole lot nicer. On the other hand i feel the strats have a quicker and more versatile playing style, so it's all about personal preference.

What kind of music do you play?

Edit: Upon reading above, i'd go for the fender.

And Def Leppard aren't cool. Hell, rabies and Robert Mugabe are cooler.

Well Pink Floyd and single-coil strats go together well, but you can make any guitar work for any style if you try.

If not, look at some of the tele's. they play pretty similarly, and look pretty damn awesome aswell!

good point, have you tried either guitar out? Try before you buy...you'll never find your ideal guitar if you've not played it first.

i have already play the 50's strat and i loved it!

eric clapto's strat is from what year?

Hard to judge since both guitars are very different from each other. Is there no way for you to try them out in store?

As for me, I would personally get the Washburn X50PRO but that's for my tastes.
