I've been researching Tube Heads for my next purchase and I can only find one amp which fits what I want. Problem is, I'm starting to have second thoughts about whether its a good decision.

I play Progressive metal, and heres what I want-

- 2 Channels
- 50 Watt
- All Valve
- Good Low-end (7 strings)
- Crystal Clear Cleans
- Nice shreddy high end

The Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier pretty much ticks all the boxes, but I'm unsure about whether I want to pay that much. Theres always eBay I suppose.

But are there any alternatives in case I change my mind? My budget is preferably about £800, but I can go over that if necessary (like I may be prepared to do with the Mesa).

Thanks.

^ I'm sure that video will change his mind
And your GH goes out the window because he said he wants two channels.

Maybe look at some Bogner stuff, They just put out a couple new heads, which i believe are 2-channel.

I looked on GAK, and they list that Mesa at £1500, so I took that into consideration when looking around.

First thought is the Orange Thunderverb 50. It doubles as a bass amp, so the low end should be off the charts.

The Peavey JSX and 6505 are more watts than you're looking for, but would both do what you want to do closer to your budget. You could save a lot of money going with the Marshall DSL50 or the Laney GH-50L, and probably be really close to where you want to be. I'd test 'em all out extensively seeing that the Laney's almost a quarter of the price of the Mesa you're thinking of.
You Don't Need a halfstack.

You Don't Need 100W.

Hmm, the Laney looks pretty nice. Shame its 100 watt, but I think I could deal with that...

My only concern is that the gain doesn't really seem thick enough...

He wants something cheaper than a single recto. Bogner is probably 2 and a half times pricier than one of those.

If that isn't thick enough, you should go find Rosie O' Donnell and plug her in.

Does it do shred well? Like a Mastodon/Dragonforce tone?

Cheers much.
