Hey I got the Zakk Wylde Epiphone Les Paul. What size strings should I put on it? I tried some 10's (46) of the boomers, and they fit fine. But when I went to tune it the high e wouldn't go into tune properly? I've changed strings many times before, and this has never happened. It's only that one string, so I got another one and the same thing happened. It broke before getting tuned up to standard tuning (when the other ones were fine doing so). Any advice?

you may have a sharp spot on the nut.
But, before you go crazy on your guitar, I need to ask some questions.
Where did the string break?
was the string extremely tight when it broke?
Chances are, you got a dud string, it happens sometimes.
The bridge saddle may also have broken it.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
