So the other day I got a knock on my door, and a rather suspicious looking package walked in:

Jack Sparrow? WTF?

So I open 'er up, and to my relief, there is no creepy replica in this box:

Full frontal:

Shiny!

She's a '97 RG570, MIJ, original Edge trem. I got her off the magical 'Bay for $440, plus shipping from Nevada to Alaska ($120, ouch).

As I expected buying something from eBay, she wasn't perfect. The strings were ancient and filthy, and there was no pull-up range on the trem. So after I checked the electronics, I took her apart and cleaned everything, then put in a neck shim and reassembled. She now plays like a dream, the action is less than 2mm on the low E, and I have more than a perfect 4th of pull-up range.
She's a huge upgrade from an Epiphone, and I'm gonna go play some more, so sorry if I don't reply to the thread for a while.

Original WIZ neck? Digging the finish man. Pretty good deal for around $500 IMO, but swap the V pickups because they can get muddy. Man I wish Ibanez will reissue their F pickups...

The pics don't do it justice of course, it looks way better in person. And it's actually in very good condition, I don't think it was ever played much, as there is zero fret wear, and only two minuscule dings in obscure places.

Superwizard actually (Wizard with a bubinga stripe for more strength). I actually don't think the pickups are too muddy (there way clearer than my Epi's pickups), but they're rather sterile, they don't have any feel to them. I think when I get sick of them I'll stick a pair of Breeds in there.

huzzah for sexy green guitars gotten off of ebay for an awesome price...

EDIT: Green guitars never seem to photograph all that well...

Congrats on the find, that looks phenomenal.

Wow that neck must be mad fast. It looks like you got a great deal. I heard the original edge is like one of the most beautiful things ibanez ever did.

Indeed! I've actually been checking the 'bay for a couple months now, but all that came up was either older ones with square neck joints, or boring silver ones (there were a lot of those). I did see quite a few newer, nice finish, or upgraded ones, but most didn't ship to Alaska, even though they were in the US It blows my mind how people think shipping outside the lower 48 is dangerous or not worth their money somehow; it's like they think Alaska is still a territory...

I'm a great proponent of taking gear shots with pets in the picture, so this thread is a guaranteed succes

Other than that, nice guitar!

I find the original Wizard really thin, but very comfortable at the same time.

My thoughts excatly! I got the package and I saw the lettering on the box, and I was weirded out. I was thinking, "who the hell would want four-foot tall Jack Sparrow action figure?"

PinkEdit: ^I got the inspiration for that pic from you man So maybe now just like taking a pic of the box, we need a pic of a pet as well

That seems to be the general consensus lol. I think it's better than a boring black or silver. But hey, at least is a sparkle finish.

I like it, but then again, I'm slightly colour blind (which explains my yellow and orange guitars ).

I think green guitars are an acquired taste because they're not nearly as common as some of the other colors you find on guitars.

But once you acquire that taste.... oh so tasty, lol.

So true. Green 3 p/u guitars with original edges = acquired taste. But a good one...

Awesome guitar.

Change out the pickups, now!

Or at least switch the bridge and neck pickup magnets around. RGs with the stock pickups is like trying to drive a Ferrari with bike wheels.

I find the Ibanez stock pickups quite nice, personally.

KITTY! Best pic of the lot imo

Sparkly finish guitars never seem to photo well - my Cort has a metallic finish and the pics in my profile just don't do the gorgeous satin red justice. Otherwise, congrats on the new axe, Ibanez guitars are THE BEST (imo, before anyone flames me!). The Edge trem seems to be the single best trem ever made, and the older guitars just have that aura around them - broken in, pure metal machines. Have many good years together!

Screw these kids dude, they dont know a good guitar if it hit 'em in the face; and let that be the truth. Thats a bitchin' guitar though. Cosmo black hardware AND an original Edge trem? Thats quiet a catch. Im not a fan of center pups, but hey, it looks good to me. Very different color too, nice though. I approve.

Even the cat approves!

You don't see me going into your threads and going "Lol, Jackson..." do you? If you can show me where to get a Soloist for $500 maybe I'll rethink the whole Ibanez deal. BTW MIJ RG>MIJ Dinky.

Donut: I really don't mind the stock pickups, they're high output and tight. I'll replace them someday though, when I get sick of them (it'll probably be a while though).

Kickass:

Quantam: Thanks man!

Dog: ^I actually didn't know it had the cosmo black until I got it, I couldn't tell from the pics on eBay. Kind of a bonus lol. And I have the center pickup screwed all the way down, so that it doesn't get in the way.

I actually had this idea of taking out the center pickup, painting a piece of wood to look like a pickup, and jamming it in the hole. Kind of like a PGM ripoff, fake pickups instead of fake f-holes
