The guitarist in my band desperately needs a new amp, something around the 50watt mark, though higher isn't out of the question, however the price needs to be between £150 - £200, so keep that in mind (I doubt going over by a little bit will be a problem, but keep it close as possible. He plays a wide range of music, so a good all-rounder with a DI output socket is a must.

Thanks in advanced

Well from what I've seen, a pound is worth 2x as much as a USD. So, if prices are exactly the same, he should be able to get that.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

They often arn't, often the price in pounds is the same as the the dollar price in numbers, so everything is twice as expensive...but I'll look into it

Just use a mic into the mixer, or just buy a DI box. It's not worth it to buy an amp just for it's line out.
