A guy I know is selling a Carvin All Tube 100 watt Head ($300) and a Carvin 4 speaker cabinet ($250). I've been looking for a new guitar amp, and this sounds like a good deal to me. Would this be worth the time to go look at and possibly spend $550 on?

I need it for shows mostly, and loud practices, so figure it will fit the bill.
I haven't seen it or played it yet. The guy lives in another town, and I was trying to figure out if it was worth the trip to play it and then potentially buy it. Are Carvins generally all around amps (sounds good for everything metal to ska to classic rock with the help of pedals)?
