Why is that everytime I mute and strum with distorion, like for Mr. Brownstone, I get wierd harmonics and crap no matter where I place my fretting hand? How can I fix this?
Use more of your hand, or try muting closer to the nut.
try pressing harder with your strumming hand
try muting closer to the bridge than the rhythm pickup
do you mean your fretting hand or picking hand muting here? If you mean your fretting hand you probably need to move finger position slightly - muting with a larger area would help, such as 2 fingers or more - Maybe reduce the gain a little too. if you mean palm muting everyone else has already reccomending things :p
try putting ur right hand closer to the bridge when u pm. that's wat happened to my friend. he pm's with his right hand near the top of the bridge pup and he gets a *tick tick* sound instead of a *chug chug*.
Just pay closer attention to where you are muting - You might be sounding natural harmonics.
Rest your hand on the tremelo, don't feather it.
use three fingers
