so my first show is coming in about a month and i was just wondering, because im playing a couple songs in standard tuning and one in drop D so i was wondering how do you change your guitars without getting the screechy sound you get when you plug and unplug a guitar. anwsers to this question would be greatly apprieciated

Any pedal with a mute function - such as a noise gate/suppressor or a tuner - will do the trick.

Several ways:
1. Turn amp to standby
2. volume pedal
3. tuner pedal just active it and itll effectively mute it

why do you need to change your guitar for one song if you're just detuning one string, just do it quick on stage, no one will even notice or care

Turn the volume all the way down on the guitar and amp, then unplug it, works like a charm. It's what I do live.

get your singer to do something with the crowd while you go tune your guitar. just go turn the amp off and unplug and plug into your tuner. tune it, the plug it back into the amp then turn the amp on

tuner pedal, itll cut the noise and u can change the tuning like u needed to do anyway

pull the cable out of your first pedal's input, it shouldn't make any noise. Then you can swap guitars with no worries.

how would that help? It makes the noise because the cable isn't connected to the guitar.

It wouldn't.

Alternatively though, if you don't use your clean channel when you're playing, you could make the clean channel's volume 0 and switch to it when you're switching guitars.

i think monstercable makes these new cables that somehow avoid those noises......

If your that cool that you have to switch guitars to play in drop d, you probably should know the answers yourself...
