My pc (round at a mates atm) recently installed black and white (some random-ass game) and crashed. I turn it off to restart it and get a blue screen saying that windows has encountered a problem.

I turned it off and on again. It came back. (I did this many times, getting more annoyed)

Anybody know what to do? I know you're supposed to do a checkdisk thing..but dunno how, cause i fail at computers :\

Thanks

EDIT: I can't even get onto windows btw

hit F8 as its loading up and try "start at last known good configeration" and if that works, uninstal the game, or, try the same but enter safe mode and uninstal the game.

What? Wall of text? Where?

TS, try the system restore option.
I'm not too good with computers either, though.

I can't even get onto windows though - i get four options

- Start windows
- Start as last good known configuration
- Start with command prompt
- ????

I've tried them all...but that haunting blue screen keeps coming back up :/

Reinstall Windows.
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

You're kidding me. I'll lose everything won't i?

Oh, and i'm sure it's happened before. Only i can't remember how it got fixed.

No. Do not reinstall windows.

Take your windows installation CD, insert it, boot from disk, repair, run chkdsk (type chkdsk into the black screen and press enter besides C:/), windows will repair itself.

And after that's done, type fixboot so it writes a new bootlog.

then exit.

Restart your computer normally.

Reinstall Windows. Try to make it something that's not... um... Vista.

And have you tried Safe Mode? A lot of people think it's the downfall of computers (no passwords are required, and it'll tell you most any password on the computer), but it gives you control over everythingon the comp.

And try not running the game? Take the disk out of the drive, and see if it still BSODs. If not, Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Remove Black & White and reinstall.

^no. Reinstalling windows may damage your current files on the harddisk, PlayMadness. Due to you having to format.

Vista is fine. as long as its not home basic.
You get what you pay for.
People expect home basic to be extremly amazing for "gaming".
Hint: look at what it supports. is gaming on the list?

You'll have no trouble with vista premium and ultimate are amazing.

if your game corrupted while installing, %90 of the time, it's the user's fault for running too many programs, or cancelling in the middle of it to corrupt windows installer.

I just meant don't get Vista if you wanna play B&W, they don't get along well.

I'm on Vista as we speak, I love it.

Hypnotisation, safe mode will not work because the bootlog is corrupt. It happens frequently. Read my post above.

My B&W worked fine with Vista Home Premium.

EDIT: and my setup is a piece of crap.
