It's only legal in the US I believe, where it's legal if you physically own the game anyway.

You do "own" all of the games you're downloading right?
If not, this thread will be closed for piracy.

But as for the answer to your question,
no.
Main gear (For complete list, see profile):
Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain-top
Basswood Telecaster, 2 single-sized HB's, both split.
Epiphone Valve Junior
B-52 AT-412 Cabinet
Oh, and I have a Squier VM Jazz Bass too.

Yes it is legal as long as you have a physical copy of the game and you are downloading the ROM for backup purposes.

If you do not own a physical copy of the game than you must delete the ROM within 24 hours.

Though, I doubt Nintendo gives a damn if your downloading ROMs of N64 games. I'm sure they have bigger things to worry about.

I believe the emulators themselves are legal.
Am I right, or am I thinking of something else?

1.Illegal to download roms unless u bought a copy of the game &
2. i dont thin emulators r illegal
soo
i would download project 64(works fine)
but on dial up it will take at least 3 hrs.(.but at least its better than 5)

well i was exagerrating about the five hours, and the emulators themselves take like five minutes to dowload, but all the roms are like 25 MB and ****, so it takes forever

Somewhat off-topic, but are MMO emulators illegal even if you have bought the original game? Due to subscription or whatnot?

No, it still isn't, lol. It's only legal to make a backup copy of the game yourself.

This is new to me. What is a MMO Emulator?

EDIT to guy above me: Emulators pretty much "Emulate" a console on your computer which allows you to open and run "ROMs" which are games.

Could someone please explain what emulators do please?

They open ROMs.

It's like a gaming console on your computer.

Basically MMO players got sick of having to experience game-wrecking updates and decided to take matters into their own hands, there are several emulators or emu's as well call them, for Star Wars Galaxies which is an MMO which had some insanely stupid updates that caused the vast majority of players to quit. So now we are making our own version at the point when the game was best.

Hope you understood that, I don't help develop the SWG emu's but I support two of them.

I'm not 100% sure how it works, but obviously, you have to download the emulator that emulates the right console, and then I'm pretty sure ROMs are compatible between most emulators.
