I'm sure there's a thread about this already, but who are your biggest influences as well as guitarists that you admire? These are kind of the same thing, but I'd assume that if you can't begin to emulate someone's style you'd still admire them (provided you actually want to emulate their style, of course).

Also, I mean people that you've heard and listen to often, not, "Oh, I heard this one song and I love it That guy is so good!".

So I'll start (In no order at all), and bold indicates larger influences:

Jimi Hendrix
Tom Morello
Josh Homme
Troy Van Leeuwen
Kyle Gass
Jack Black
Lenny Kravitz
John Frusciante
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Eric Clapton
Jimmy Page
Brian Setzer
Dave Mustaine
Tony Iommi
Slash
Matt Bellamy
Eric Johnson
Larry Lalonde
Billy Gibbons
Bradley Nowell
Chuck Berry
Dave Navarro
Jesse Hughes
James Hetfield
George Thorogood
Dick Dale
Rick Derringer
John Pettrucci
Chris Cheney
Chris Caffrey
Al Pitrelli
Alex Lifeson

EDIT: Also, if you play bass as well, list bass influences here too. I don't have many, so their all major influences to me.

Les Claypool
Jack Bruce
Lee Rocker
Tim Commerford
Flea
John Paul Jones
Dusty Hill
Noel Redding
Billy Cox
Kim Nekroman
Geddy Lee

Tom Morello for sure, without a doubt. I listen to a lot of folk so, Jack Johnson , The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello), Kimya Dawson and Jimi Hendrix without a doubt that's a given really. And Kyle Gass (from Tenacious D) because he plays a acoustic just like any guitarist from Metallica, AC DC or any other band would play their electric guitars.

Gah, how could I forget Rage Kage?!

Okay, well I added him and others I completely forgot... I guess I listen to too many different things to remember everybody.

These are musicians, not necessarily guitarists, but hey, I don't call myself a guitarist...

Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Joe Henderson
Jimi Hendrix
Slash
Yo yo Ma
Jaco Pastorious
Jimmy Page
David Gilmour (PF in general)
I have nothing witty to say here at the moment

Expect a change soon

for me its billy howerdel - most people wont think of him, but he uses the guitar as a tool to make music, not vice versa--- elegant, progressive, tasteful, combo of simple and complex....cool effects--totally artsy...well those are just my thoughts...
