I'm writing an essay for Honors English, and I'm quoting an analysis on a poem. I used one sentence, and then a couple sentences later I found another useful one. Do I make separate sentences with separate quotation marks, or do I make a small line of dots and the write the next sentence, like what you see in news articles?

So it would be, "“loosely autobiographical, tenderly written, contemplative novel [and] is one of Gary Soto’s most poignant books..... the book chronicles seventeen-year-old Jesse's painful search for a way out of a lifetime of poverty and backbreaking labor in the fields."

I tend to just use some filler words ''and also in this case'' something like that. Makes it seem more personal I'm told.
