these are the best suggestions in the thread, hands down. the isp is probably the best noise suppressor in your budget (well, the best that comes to mind anyway). the small clone is a pretty nice chorus, and isnt too expensive. leaves you a good chunk of money for a dirt pedal.

which leads to my question. what do you want from your distortion/overdrive pedal? do you want a lot more gain? do you want a little more gain and a tighter sound? something else? cause there are sooooo many dirt boxes out there that do a lot of different things, so its hard to know what would suit you unless we know what you are looking for.
