iv been looking into small 5w tube amps to replace my old huge peavey. most of them do not have eq knobs. would a eq pedal be powerful enough to replace them or are they for very minor tweaks. thanks.

If you're willing to shell out the like 89 ish USD for a Boss EQ, go for it, I have one that I keep on all the time on my board to keep from having major volume jumps when I switch from clean to distortion, because the level knob on the Boss MT-2 is crap

If you don't want to pay so much, the Danelectro Fish & Chips is good for the price.

It should help, yes. I've heard that it changes your timbre more than really EQing you different, but it should get the job done.

i would probably go for the fish n chips cause its cheap and iv never heard anything bad except that its plastic (im a bedroom hobbyist, not a performer, so i dont care). but its def powerful enough to act as main eq right?

can anyone make a testimonial that the pedals works as the main amp eq?

I'd really recommend getting an eq for any amp really. Main or supplimental. I use one before the amp on my Epi Valve Standard (after all the effects), and use it in the effects loop of my Peavey VK.
