alrite well soon after i get my Blackheart stack i wanna swap the tubes w/ the nicest ones i can find.

the tone i want is very similar to a classic rock lead tone. very marshally and gain-y.

also, i'm not the smartest when it comes to speakers so i'm wondering if taking the celestion out of my Randall combo and switching it w/ the blackheart stock one will do it better justice?

thanks

perhaps if its a higher-quality celestion? Do you know which speaker is in your randall? Just because its a Celestion doesn't mean its gonna be better- Celestion makes cheaper speakers too.
a guy told me that the tremolo bar was called the "distortionator"

Get the amp first and then post in the tube thread specifying how you want to change the tone.
The speaker in your randall will be better than the stock one in the blackheart.

oh yea it's a G12T-75.

i'd like my blackheart to sound very marshall-y

12AX7 preamp tubes and EL34 (octal tubes, won't be swappable for EL84's) power tubes.

Best bets are Tung-Sol or EHX preamp tubes, and I've heard good things about JJ EL84's.

EDIT: Without spending an arm and a leg.

EC338's in the preamp and EL34's in the power tube section...

Dunno if they'll go in a Blackheart or not though...

yea i might have to do some more research. or ask anyone who may have modded their Blackheart w/ new tubes to get it to sound just like a Marshall.

you won't be able to put EL34's into a Blackheart without some serious modding and a new output transformer, I think.

Might as well buy a Marshall.

Try the Mullard re-issues for your tubes. They're expensive, but you only have two in your amp to replace, right? And then maybe a Celestion Greenback for the cab. About as Marshall as you can get.

thanks for the tips.

i've heard of people puttig EL84s(i think) in their valve juniors so shouldn't i be able to put same kind in the blackheart?

-Btw, if you're going to swap your speaker over, check the ohmage and/or size before attempting to do so.

alrite well i know they're both 12'' ones. and my randall one can handle 50 tube watts so it'll handle the BH no sweat. i just gotta check the ohms for both. anyone know what the ohms for the BH one is? i think it's 16?

^ It's 16 ohms.

Those little stacks are expensive. I'd get a Palomino V16 for less before Guitar Center runs out.

already put money down. not to mention it has nice features, 3 and 5 watt setting will be very useful in the dorms.

is there a way you can run it into a PA system?

What, it has a switch to change from 5 to 3 watt? That is a bit pointless, I don't think 2watts is going to make much difference in dB.

And yes, you can run it into a PA quite easily if it has a headphone socket (I'm pretty confident it must have, all these little amps do). Personally I'd prefer to mic it though.

i dont think it has a headphone socket. but i'm not 100% sure, someone should confirm this.

and yes you CAN notice a change in overall volume when you flip the switch. and when it comes down to dorm room rules every noticeable volume change is important.
