Question... I'm trying to learn the tapping part in the fast solo of One by Metallica... and I'm having some problems with getting the notes to sound right when I tap, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any good reccommendations for tapping.

At this point I'm not worried about playing that solo at full speed, I just want to get the tapping notes to sound right. So if anyone can help me with this, that'd be great and much appreciated. Thanks

Make sure your tapping with your tapping finger in a manner as if you were pulling off.
In other words, don't lift off the string, pull of of it downwards, then follow through with the left hand.

Make sure you can distinguish each note, being sure to pull of each evenly so it sounds.

Ah I'm pretty good at tapping.

What I do for that solo is I use my middle finger first of all, because I can place my palm on the rest of the strings for support to give me more speed and strength. Then I kind of go straight for the fret (Would be 19 in this case) and then once my finger hits the fret I shoot of diagonally. (Not a huge pulloff) It makes a slight pulloff which is good for tapping.

For the high E tapping is a bit harder so I hold it doesnt pretty tight with my normal fretting hand so the string doesnt fly off the fretboard.

Just get the basic motion down, then you can speed it up.
