Is there any amp out there that can play any genre you could think of? And it still sounds great? How much would it cost?
#2
Many people would say a Mesa Mark IV can play most things and sound good.
I think my triple xxx sounds great clean and with distortion, only 500 bucks used, but others opinions will differ.
#4
you could get a line 6 spider III amp. there are 15-watts to over 200-watts.
there are a bunch of settings from clean to insane, with 6 effects, and if you get over the 15-watt, you get a wah-wah petal and band presets. you can also save personal setings. its a really great amp.

So we had a music battle, copying what each other did and upping the ante and whatnot. After awhile of going nowhere, I said to the pianist "let's see you do this, asshole" played a single note... and bent it up a step. And left.

If you're on a budget,

try the vox series. Vox AD30VT or AD50VT. They run about $300-400 if I remember correctly. My brother uses them and they are very good for anything from jazz/blues to classic rock and modern rock. Just not the best amp for metal, but I'm sure that can be solved with a pedal.
#15
Mesa Mark IV and Road King 2. They do almost everything.

The hotbar should be floating parallel to the principle axis at this point. Next, take a hammer, and beat yourself in the face while crying JIHAD. problem fixed.

Line 6 Vetta 2 - $1700 + tax

There's a good chance I'll be buying one in the next few days, still deciding.

I got the chance to play around with a Dr.Z Maz the other day. Get one of those.

that guy from dream theater has a very versatile rig.
(dont flame me im just not a fan of that type of music, thats why i dont know his name. great player though)
#22
^It's John Petrucci and while his rig varies often, he's always playing some form of Mesa. Right now I think he's using Mark IV's.

And to answer the thread starters question, a Mesa Mark III ($800-1000) or IV ($1400-1500) is the ultimate amp for versatility.
