..And all went smoothly, drilling, screwing etc.

So I come to restring it, and.. The strings're too short!?

(EDIT: As you know, the firebird tuners are spread all the way to the tip of the headstock.)

The instructions said to place it as close to the end of the guitar as possible! And the Firebird is incredibally long, so I guess that accounts for it..?

What to do UG!? Do they make extra long strings? O.o

I'm not sure, but Bigsbying a Firebird is pretty sweet. When you figure out how to string it, I'd like to hear it on an MP3 or something.

I need pics, then I'll help.

Hey, a man of good taste! Sure thing pal.

All I can think of other than longer strings is re-siting the tuners further down the headstock, similar to a Les Paul/SG setup. Or am I thinking out of the box here..?

I know they do sell Extra long strings.

I'm not sure where or for what reason.

But I've seen them before.

Longer Scale Strings? Baritone strings?

Edit:
You did put it in the right place didn't you?
It does need to be furthest possbile from the TOM, but you didn't move that as well did you?

Try moving it closer then?

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

All I can think of is baritone strings but those are really heavy. The lights ones are like 13-62
so you better like really heavy strings if you use those.

yeah go to a shop and see if they have long scale strings, I know they do exist.
Out here you've gotta know where your towel is!

Before you do anything drastic, post pictures so we can see where you put the bigsby.

I can't move it, I've already drilled it and screwed it on..

Baritone strings sound good, but a .068 low E is epicly thick compared to Ernie Ball regulars (.046). o.o

I'll try and find my camera for some pics.

you could remove it, fill the holes, touch up the finish and just relocate it. its really not that hard.
