seriously aside from the Iceman, is their any originality coming out of the Ibanez shop? i was thumbing thru a new magazine i got today, and saw an Ibanez that was a BLATANT copy of a Jackson Warrior

dont get me wrong, they make some decent guitars, its just i wish they'd make their own and not just flip the headstock and put a new name on it

not sure, i left the mag at a friends, but it looks EXACTLY like a warrior. If someone came up with the Iceman surely there are other new designs to experiment with

oh, you mean that thing that has that holographic paint job that changes color?

EDIT: it's called The Xiphos.

and to the TS, the jackson warrior was ripped off of the BC Rich "Stealth", as far as i know.

EDIT: actually, i just checked, and the x-shaped guitar form actually IS an original Ibanez design.

from 1984

so TS, you're complaining for absolutely nothing. and i mean, the Dinky? ripped off of fender. the Kelly? ripped off of gibson. it's what all guitar companies do, not just ibanez.

you see a lot more originality coming out of Jackson though, the Kelly is obviously Explorer influenced, but its still its own shape. they got pointier V's, and the Rhoads models. but this isnt about Jackson, its about Ibanez and there complete lack of original shapes. sure, you can get a Steve Vai model with a handle cut in it (wow) or a ridiculous fretboard, but they all look the same

Yeah they've also been copying some of the schecter models.
I never really liked Ibanez but now I've lost a lot of respect for them

It's funny how after all the guitar models Ibanez have ripped off over the years you pick one out that's actually an original Ibanez design to complain about.

I suppose there are only so many guitar shapes you can make before either getting accused of coppying or making something completely ridiculous (BC Rich Ironbird anyone?)

All these ripped off a Charvel model. Star I think?

what AMAZINGLY original shapes are you talking about? the shape of the guitar means nothing, and any new shapes nowadays are usually uncomfortable and impractical. Ibanez doesn't come out with a bunch of new shapes because they like to work more with the shapes they've already got, and focus on better necks, etc. so what if they came out with some ripoff shapes? who the hell would actually buy any of those ridiculously shaped guitars anyway?
