I dunno if you can get em in the UK, but check out B-52. They're tube and have some mean metal tone, and I think you can get a 50w 1x12 combo for about $500.

^^^ Can't get B-52s in the UK, unfortunately.

Try looking for a used JCM900 combo on eBay. There are some on there that go pretty cheap. This one would be great for you - just in your budget:

Alternatively, save up a bit more (to £350ish) and you could get a Randall RG50TC. You may also be able to find one of those on eBay pretty cheap.

^ is bodna kidding?

from my own personal experience, distortion/OD pedals in modelling amps is COMPLETELY REDUNDANT. so don't recommend it. if it actually sounds good to YOU then it's prolly b/c

A) you don't have a good ear for tone

or

B) you keep ur amp on ONE clean channel to ur liking and put the pedal in front of that all the time- which in essence COMPLETELY ruins the purpose of having a damn modelling amp.

come on guys....listen to UG veterans they know a little bit about this stuff.

cube 60 and a boss metal core pedal

No.
Although the Cube 60 is an alright amp, he can afford a nice tube combo which slaughters the cube in tone. And the metal core just isn't that good.
Once again, my honest tone freak recommendation is the Randall RG50TC.
