hey UG!
They reason im asking this is because i don't really trust alot of doctors, 8 years ago i started to get really bad headaches, but they never went away. I went to doctors up until 1 year ago, and then they said, its chronic headaches and might cure itself...
on top of that i get migranes(which suck ass)
2 years ago the same thing happend with my stomach, although they didn't even give an explanation.
And to add to my misery one day i decide to climb a wall and jumb off messing up my heels(i can walk it just hurts a little)(but thats my fault)...

so i was wondering if any other UGers have had problems with doctors?

Go to a doctor instead. I wouldn't trust someone who can't spell their alleged occupation either.

I agree, education (of the threadstarter) seems to be the problem here.

Medicine is not a precise science. Hate the game, not the playa (kind of).

I trust the damn people who have worked hard for years to obtain their qualifications. When my brother cracked his spinal column and no one could work out what was wrong, doctors kept bloody well examining and testing until they found out. When my grandfather was ill, doctors found he had cancer and treated him best they could. Doctors do their fucking job, and yes, I damn well trust them to know the difference between a whiny brat who thinks he knows more about the medical profession than they do and actual illness.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

-Matthew Arnold

Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing.

Doctors are usually doubtful of medical treatments they haven't heard of or learned of, like natural herbs... so sometimes I wouldn't trust doctors. Personally I think that is too much information for one person to handle and remember every possible treatment or symptom to an illness. I think they should specialize the job a little more so one person doesn't have to carry so much information with a possibility of making a human error.

? not sayin i know more but, if it takes 8 years of diffrent people to give up then i doubt theyr'e all they are cracked up to be...
espescially 8 years to say its a chronic ache that some people get and it might go away.

Over specialisation is very, very dangerous, unless someone comes up with an invention that stops people ever being ill with more than one thing. Specialising more would, in all lielyhood, lead to more error than it would solve.

We should all pray instead of seeing doctors.
Soon you will sit on the bench
of those who deny I have my soul
You sell a dream you create
Condemned by what you condemned before
Smooth are the words you sing down and high
Underground is your joy your laws

I dont like doctors, because they tell me stuff I dont like, but I trust them, they know better that anyone else would.
#23
I trust my doctor. It's difficult sometimes but it's generally not their fault.
You just have to accept that.
It's not exactly an easy job. Think of how many people must get angry at them. Some deservedly probably.. but eh.

Isn't it funny how when you're young there's this illusion that doctors care and can solve any problem? They care about no one but themselves. I dont have insurance (bear in mind I obviously have an SSN, making it impossible to run away from debt) and they treat me like absolute ****. Read my post:

ugh.. nevermind.

Well, next time you guys have a serious disease, don't see a doctor. They're just too unreliable. You wouldn't entrust a doctor with your life, would you? They're wrong so often. They misdiagnose, they only care about insurance, etc. Use faith healing instead. Or magnets. Can't go wrong with that.

EDIT!!!

Or better yet:

Ask the Pit.
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

Some conditions (ie migraines) are rather mysterious in their origins despite the best attempts of modern medicine.

As for stomach problems, anything can cause it. That's, like, the most common complaint in the book.

"My stomach hurts!"

Well, that narrows it down to about 48 billion possible problems...
"Virtually no one who is taught Relativity continues to read the Bible."

well, hehe, like recently i had those stomach problems and i had to spend 2 weeks at the hospital. When i went out i started taking the prescribed medicine and in a week i ended up in the hospital again because all the medecine they prescribed caused negative reactions and effects...so yeah, thats how i trust doctors.

*sigh* This thread makes me sad. Both my parents are doctors, my grandpa was a surgeon (retired) and my great uncle is a famous doctor in Egypt (retired). The main thing is that doctors get so much sh*t. They almost constantly have a pending lawsuit even if they've done nothing wrong, they get up to a couple hundred patients every week, most of them complaining of something very minor, and they get tons of drug seekers. Not to mention all the people who don't believe that the doctors know what they're doing. I think that should justify some of their lack of concern for all those patients that comes in with a stomach ache and no insurance who is asking for morphine and whatnot. Just my opinion but whatever.

the do get alot of crap, but although i doubt alot of their stuff i don't go suing them, besides people of all proffesions get sued often for no good reason...
however a constant ache (fairly strong) isn't always minor...
if its like 2 days andd they come in crying i could understand there anger though.

uhhhh, u dont trust them because u dont like their diagnosis?

It ain't even like that. I wasn't going to go into details of my experiences, but after a dumbass remark like that I guess I ought to.

5 or 6 years ago I had alot of coughing. Sometimes it got so bad that I'd feel fine, then start riding my bike, then 2 miles later I was off the trail on all fours coughing my head off. I was diagnosed with severe allergies to dust mites, dog dander, and a few other things. Got this big-ass list with all these things I had to change in my lifestyle. Also got diagnosed with multiple kinds of asthma. I had 3 different kinds of inhalers. Also was diagnosed with overactive crap in my sinuses due to a deviated septum. Had all kinds of tests done. Finally, I diagnosed myself... I ran across a very small article saying how some people have asthma symptoms after drinking orange juice. Well, I was drinking orange juice at the time. Apparently I'm allergic to it. I stopped drinking orange juice and was perfectly fine. Then I had the asthma doctor sending these weird letters acting like I could die if I don't keep coming back in for check-ups. They're a bunch of idiots.

Had very similar issues with my knee. Had many doctors look at it, had bone and joint specialists check it out, chiropractors, etc. Nobody could do anything. One guy wanted surgery, the chiro wanted to pop my spine 3 times a week indefinitely, etc. Come to find out, my knee just doesn't track right, and if I'm out of shape, it pulls to one side and hurts when flexed.

Currently, I have been very sleepy during the day, bad sleep attacks, no energy. This started a year ago. I have been diagnosed with brain cancer, sleep apnea, dead testicles, a dying pituitary gland, too much exercise, not enough exercise, just all kinds of crazy stuff. Personally, I think I just found out that I am hyper-sensitive to caffeine, it stays in my system and keeps me awake for a day or two.

Some of you guys have no idea how much guesswork doctors can do. General practitioners just about can only refer you to a specialist. When you get to the specialist, if they specialize in asthma, you'll be diagnosed with asthma. That's just how it works unfortunately.

Well I know that doctor's do their job, but I have a complaint. I broke my arm playing rugby, clean break, no complications. I go to the doctor after i get my cast on so he can check the x-rays etc, and he tells me i can't play rugby for 8 weeks after i get my cast off. Thats 14 weeks!
